PayPal Alternative For Freelancers

There is a PayPal alternative out there for freelancers that wasn’t featured in the BadPal Guide (which will be updated soon!), and that is Payoneer.

Payoneer is perfect for freelancers, or maybe even eBay sellers because of it’s unique features.

The Payoneer Prepaid MasterCard works just like any other MasterCard card. The card is accepted at all locations worldwide, where debit MasterCard is accepted electronically. You can use it at a point of sale location to make purchases and at an ATM to withdraw cash. With the added security of choosing your own PIN, you can be assured of no unauthorized use of your card.

Who can get a Prepaid MasterCard card?

Travel card: You need to be 13 or over to apply for a Payoneer Prepaid MasterCard through our travel program partners. You don’t need a bank account, but if you are under 18, you must have your parent or guardian apply for the card for you.
Payroll card: Anyone worldwide over the age of 18 can order the Payoneer Prepaid MasterCard through our partners to receive earnings. You don’t need a bank account to apply.

Anyone over the age of 18 can load the card with funds transferred from a bank account or a credit or debit card.

So, you get your card (for free!), and when someone wants to pay/send you money, they just enter your e-mail address at Payoneer’s website, pay using their credit card, and presto! Your debit card is credited, and ready to be used worldwide: online, offline, or just withdraw the money from an ATM. Simple.

Sure, the fees are a little high (not too much though) but Payoneer is an established, well renowned company that has earned the trust of its customers, not to mention that companies like iStockPhoto, uTest, 2CheckOut, GetAFreelancer, Metacafe, Elance, Western Union, and many other high-profile companies use Payoneer’s services to pay their affiliates, freelancers, etc.

Also, Payoneer has been known for their outstanding customer support. If your card gets lost/stolen, or even if there was an error at the ATM, you can rest assured that Payoneer will take care of your money.
