PayPal Alternatives
There are many alternatives to PayPal out there - some are good, and some are bad.
So, here’s a list of PayPal alternatives for the general public. If you are a seller, you might be interested in checking out “PayPal Alternatives For Sellers”, but make sure you read this section first.
So, let’s start with what may be PayPal’s biggest competition.
- Moneybookers (http://www.moneybookers.com)
Moneybookers offers the same services as PayPal. However, because they are regulated by the FSA (Financial Services Authority), they’re really sensitive when it comes to security.
Moneybookers is probably PayPal’s biggest competition in terms of features. Because of the many security procedures, there is a lower risk of having your account hacked. When it comes to shopping, it’s not as widely accepted as PayPal, but it has been accepted by high-profile companies such as Skype. Click here for the full list.

- e-gold (http://www.e-gold.com)
E-gold is another famous competitor for PayPal. They have pretty much the same features, but it is significantly more difficult to use in terms of user interface than Moneybookers or PayPal.
Additionally, there have been people reporting problems with e-gold, like blocked accounts, and the fact that their website is down frequently. To make things worse, if they close your account, they don’t refund the money like PayPal.
- Alertpay (http://www.alertpay.com)
Alertpay is another service that is trying to overcome PayPal. It is listed here for informational purposes only, since many people suggest you stay away from them.
However, there are still people who recommend it. Oh, and you can withdraw to your e-gold account as well.
